Description:

Mental Math is an engaging educational game called Math Balance. It offers an interactive and enjoyable way for kids to develop their mental math skills while helping the character Toby reach home by balancing bridges.

Throughout the game, children not only have fun but also learn about equality, comparison, and gain flexibility with numbers. These skills are essential for understanding algebra and have a significant impact on their overall mathematical abilities.

With 30 levels, Math Balance provides ample opportunities for children to enhance their fluidity with numbers. They will discover concepts like how addition can occur in any order to achieve the same result. Additionally, they will learn that different numbers can add up to the same sum. By employing various number strategies such as bridging and compensation, children can greatly expedite their mental math computations.

The skills covered in Math Balance include:
<ul>
 <li>Developing an understanding of the equal sign and using greater than and less than signs</li>
 <li>Representing numbers in expanded form</li>
 <li>Utilizing the commutative property of addition, incorporating both expanded form and strategies as a means to solve problems (e.g., 67+25 = 60+7+20+5 = 80+12 = 92)</li>
 <li>Using different strategies for finding missing addends, including situations where the difference is unknown or when there is a bigger or smaller unknown</li>
 <li>Recognizing the inverse relationship between addition and subtraction (e.g., 4+5=9, 9-5=4)</li>
 <li>Exploring strategies that involve using only doubles or even/odd numbers to reach a specific total</li>
 <li>Solving one-step word problems with varying unknowns, including change unknown, result unknown, and start unknown problems</li>
 <li>Adding multiple two-digit numbers by applying place value strategies and properties of operations (e.g., 43 + 34 + 57 + 24 = __)</li>
 <li>Demonstrating addition and subtraction using concrete models</li>
 <li>Mentally adding or subtracting 10 or 100 from given numbers within the range of 100–900</li>
 <li>Fluently adding and subtracting within 1000 using strategies and algorithms based on place value properties of operations, as well as the relationship between addition and subtraction</li>
 <li>Understanding multiplication as repeated addition</li>
</ul>

For those following the Core curriculum, Math Balance aligns with several core standards, including:
2.OA.B.2, 2.NBT.4, 2.OA.2, 1.OA.6, 2.OA.C.3, 2.OA.1, 2.NBT.6, 2.NBT.7, 2.NBT.8, and 3.NBT.2.

To access Math Balance, you have the option to purchase it separately or as part of a Makkajai Genius subscription. Makkajai Genius subscriptions are annual and have auto-renewal enabled by default at a cost of $59.99 per year.
Payment will be charged to your iTunes Account upon purchase confirmation.

If you wish to cancel your subscription, please make sure to do so at least 24-hours before the end of the current period in order to avoid being charged for the next billing cycle. Subscriptions can be managed by the user and auto-renewal settings can be modified by accessing your Account Settings after purchase.
